Wildland Division & Fire Mitigation 

Chaffee County Fire Protection District's dedicated wildland division maintains itself as a formidable force combatting wildland fires all over the nation when called upon. Notable assists include the 2016 Hayden Pass Fire, 2018 Weston Pass Fire, 2019 Decker Fire and most recently; Mountain View Fire in 2025, North of Buena Vista. 

 

CCFPD has been working hard in recent years to expand it's wildland division to meet the needs of the community as it continues to grow.

Chaffee County Fire acts as a cooperator for the State of Colorado providing equipment with full crews to other states during wildfire season.
