Chaffee County Fire Protection District and Chaffee County have mutually adopted the International Fire Code, 2021 edition, with local amendments. The County Clerk can provide you with the ordinance adopting the code as well as the amendments adopted to the code. 

In short, the Fire Code applies to all new and existing structures other than 1 or 2 family dwellings; it dictates what shall be inspected at commercial Occupancies and the frequency of those inspections.  A majority of the commercial inspections within the Fire District are on an annual basis.
